VMWare backup error: Error opening the snapshot disks using given transport mode: Status 23

Good afternoon, I have problem in VMWARE backup, backups is failing with the error the backup failed to back up the requested files (6), follows the the detailed status attached, can someone help me?

 

environment:

Vcenter version 5.0 and Backup host OS Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise:

    SAN team would be the one who can tell you how many LUNs are assigned to the VM environment and also the Backup host.

    then compre the LUNs IDs and see if the required once are mapped or not.

    diskmangement or diskpart will give you the number of disks and disk ID that are avalaible on the backup host.

    if you what to see the LUN ids on the backup host, check with your SAN admin to find the tool for that..

    as i said for EMC its powerpath not sure about the HP 3PAR

    so what is the transport mode that you are using to take the backup?

    does it SAN or NBD?

    if it is SAN , did you mask the all LUNs to backup host?

    if it is NBD, does backup able to communicate with the ESXi with 902 port?

    Yes

    I do not know how do I test the port 902?

    telnet <esxi hostname> 902

    from the backup host will check if the communication is fine or not. it that is not connected you need to fix the network  communication issue to work over the NBD method.

    did you select both transport methods in the policy?

    for test , select only one tranport mode  may be SAN and try the backup again.

    please create the bpbkar log dir in backup host and enable the log VERBOSE To 5 and then try the backup

    once the backup got failed attach the bpbkar log to this post.

    you can check the LUN avaliablity on the backup host on Disk management

    and also in DIsk part

    but those will not give you the LUN IDs.

    what is the storage that you are using? based on the storage you can install the application to namage it

    for example if you have EMC storage --> powerpath software would able to provide the info about the LUN IDs and disk numbers in OS

    So Do you see disks on the disk management?

    els run the below command in Command prompt to list the disks

    diskpart
Diskpart> list disk
