hotfix 180429

after installing hotfix 180429 for BE 2010 MR3 windows 2008 R2 CASO Server is pretty much unseable.  services will not open, networking does not work, control panel will not open, they all say not responding.  I have triend installing the hotfix twice, both times the server became unseable.  I had to reboot in safe mode, run msconfig uncheck all symantec services, then reboot.  once rebooted, I was able to open the control panel and remove the hotfix 180429.  I find it hard to believe I am the only one having this issue with this hotfix.

your thoughts, ideas, and or frustatrtions please!

    Haven't seen this earlier...is this how you are applying the update -

    - Update the CASO server first...Apply SP2 & then the hotfix...(before update stop the MMS services)

    - Update the MMS servers now

    - Start all services

    I checked for updates, it found the update and I hit install.  This is how I have alsways installed updates.  I won't apply this update at our data center (MMS) because I don't have access to the console, when or if networking does not work (RDP).

    Hi,

     

    I just helped another guy earlier today in the forums by asking him to remove the HF using Add/Remove Programs, and restarting his server.

    He reported back that it fixed his issue.

    try this, and once done, you can always reinstall the HF. I just ran an installation of it today with no issues, so maybe it is corruption of some kind during the download.

    i have already uninstalled the hotfix twice.  you make it sound so easy.  the only way for me to remove this hotfix is to boot to into safe mode and run msconfig to kill all BE services, reboot then and only then I can open add remove programs to uninstall the hoffix.

    ...I don't make it sound easy. That's how it would be done.

    If you have to boot into Safe Mode, then something else is going on there.

    I also was able to remove it through add/remove programs. But installing it again only caused the same problem. Tried on 3 different backup servers with the same resault. Will not try to install the hotfix again. 

     

    Sent an e-mail to Symantec, waiting for a reply.

    We have tryied thid hotfix on 3 or 4 servers and each time this gives a lot of problem... uninstlling is the only way out to avoid the issues created by this hotfix...

     

    Please take some steps so that we can have benifits of the patch without having such issues...
