PST Locator on Server

I was informed by the consultant that helped us with the EV implementation that the PST Locator task cannot find PST files on server shares.  When I went to EV Admin training, the instructor said this is not true.  Can someone clarify?

I run the hard disk search on a server that has been identified but it does not find any PST files even though I know the files are on that machine.  Can the locator task search hidden shares?

One last question, will the client driven migration task find pst files located in a personal share located on a server rather than the user's local machine?

I appreciate any insight provided.

Thank you,  Chris

  • As long as the locator service account has Admin rights to the box, when the hard disk search runs it should find the files.

The client driven migration will migrate PSTs that are added to the Outlook profile.  It shouldn't matter where the PST file sits
