Question about missing data

Hello,

We have a user who has stated that his archived items cannot be found in outlook or Archive explorer. Has anyone seen a situation such as this, that was not user error? In the past we have seen similar requests but they have all proved to be things such as users deleting pending items or just deleting the emails before archiving them. In the user's archive explorer there are items before and after the dates in question but nothing on those dates in the folder in question. We were able to get the mail in question out of the Journal using DA but this user is a senior executive and is wanting more information.
