How To Configure SAN Media Server

I have a netbackup Client with Linux OS and netbackup client 7.5

the thing is that I want to use it as a san media server to make the backup faster so what are the steps ??

Master Server is Solaris OS 10 and Netbackup 7.5

  • The process is the same as with any media server.

Remove client sotware (instructions in NBU installation Guide), install Server software (instructions in NBU installation guide), add SERVER entry on master server for this new server and restart NBU on master.

Ensure backup devices can be seen at OS level on new server and that correct licenses have been added: Enterprise Client, Library based tape drives and SSO (if drives are shared).

Run device config wizard on master, select robot control host and new media server. Complete device config and add Storage Unit. Ensure 'On demand only' option is selected.

Change client's policy to use this STU.
