Unfortunately, I will not be able to try this approach, due to the being physically remote from the equipment. I will resume my attempts in early Aug. kindest regards brianb unable to restore backup to SSD using BESR 2010 Hello All; here is my situation. I have 2.5" SATA spinning disk (Seagate 320 GB ST9320423AS) which I would like to backup and then restore to a 2.5" SATA SSD disk (Intel 120GB SSDSC2CW120A3), basically performing a disk copy (the entire disk, all partitions). I am backing up the Seagate drive to an external USB disk, and the creation of SymSOE_C_Drive.v2i appears to be created (12.8GB) without an error messages. my source drive (the Seagate) is NTFS 3.1 formatted. I choose "Standard" compression, and select the "verify recovery point after creation" option. No other options are selected (e.g. Max file size = none, Disable Smart Sector copying = none, Ignore bad sector during copying = none, Use password = none, Encryption = none). The error message which I receive, when attempting to "restore" the backup to the SSD disk drive is the following. Error EA3905FA: Zero reference count I have tried to enable / disable various "restore" setting none of which have had a positive impact on the restore action. Any help or alternative approaches would be appreciated. brianb LAUNCH NOTIFICATION: Data Insight Implementation SDRK (Service Delivery Resource Kit ) LAUNCH NOTIFICATION: Data Insight Implementation SDRK Overview We are pleased to announce the launch of the Data Insight Implementation Service Delivery Resource Kit (SDRK) to support the Data Insight 2.5 product release. I am mine is firstname_lastname@symantec.com Re: Error EC8F17B7 Cannot create recovery points for job: My Computer Backup OK, here is what has happened since I last encountered this error message with BESR 7.0.1. The primary disk which was being backed up, started exhibiting additional integrity issues. I decided to replace the systems primary disk (was Samsung 350B), with a new disk Seagate 750GB. Since I also have access to BESR 8.x.x, I installed and configured BESR 8.1.1 after performing a clean install of the OS and APPS on the new disk. I know that this does not directly address the scenario which you are experiencing, however BESR is now performing two scheduled tasks 1) Sun & Thurs @ 11PMa computer backup of the c:\ (system files) 2) Daily @ 6PM a backup of j:\ (user created files) the target drive is a External USB attached 500GB Maxtor drive. Error EC8F17B7 Cannot create recovery points for job: My Computer Backup Error E7C3000F:Device \\SymantecSnapshot0 cannot read 8216 sectors starting at LBA 13287048. Error EBAB03F1: The request could not be performed because an I/O device error during the most recent attempt to create a recovery point, I even configured the job for "Ignore bad sectors during copy". This is after having booted from a Win2K Pro SP2 boot disk, entering recovery console and running chkdsk /r. Which found some disk errors and apparently fixed them. what is most unusual is that during the last attempted to create the recovery point, the system restarted sometime during the time BESR is running (and before it completed) Any ideas would be helpful.
