EV Discovery Accelerator - EV Versions
After reviewing the requirements for EV base software (Services or API) to be installed prior to EVDA I am not 100% as to the versions allowed. I have an EV server running 10.0.1, which will be upgraded to 10.0.4 over the coming months. I will be installing EVDA shortly (before the EV 10.0.4 upgrade) and therefore want to install 10.0.4 on the DA server to save work in the future. I know that EVDA can be at a later version than EV itself, but does this include the services/API installed on the EVDA server ? In summary, I would like to do the following: EV Server has 10.0.1 installed and running (mailbox/journal/FSA archiving) New EVDA server - install EV 10.0.4 services or API runtime , install EVDA 10.0.4 Is this OK, or do I need to install the 10.0.1 services or API runtime on the new EVDA server Thanks, AJ.Solved656Views0likes2CommentsOrder of upgrade for DA 10.0.4?
Just reading Upgrade instructions for 10.0.4. On page 34 it states; Order of upgrade in an environment with Compliance Accelerator or Discovery Accelerator If the Enterprise Vault environment that you are upgrading includes Compliance Accelerator or Discovery Accelerator, the Accelerator version must be upgraded to 10.0.4 or later. The Accelerator version can be up to one major version higher than Enterprise Vault, but it must not be lower than the version of Enterprise Vault. See the Enterprise Vault Compatibility Charts at http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH38537. You must upgrade the Accelerator product before you upgrade Enterprise Vault. Perform the upgrades in the following order: Upgrade the Accelerator product. Then upgrade Enterprise Vault on the Accelerator server. Finally, upgrade Enterprise Vault on the Enterprise Vault server. This is a change from previous upgrades, where you had to upgrade EV first, then EV components on DA server and then DA itself. Can anyone confirm? Anyone did DA 10.0.4 upgrade yet?Solved1.5KViews1like5CommentsWindows Indexing and PST creations during Discovery / Compliance Accelerator exports
Greetings, everyone; We've just learned that the Windows Indexing, which is from the Windows Search Service that isavailable through the Windows Server 2008R2 File Services role, can cause Compliance Accelerator and Discovery Accelerator exports to PST files to stop processing. The issue is noted by a PST export creating and populating some PST files, but stopping at some point and not providing any more movement of the MSG files into PST files. In the Application Event Log, we can see the following warning: Log Name: Application Source:Microsoft-Windows-Search Event ID: 3036 Task Category: Gatherer Level: Warning Keywords: Classic Description: The content source <mapi://{S-1-5-21-1641732182-3450206618-3135297742-1108}/> cannot be accessed. If you experience failures to create PST files while exporting to PST from Enterprise Vault, Compliance Accelerator, or Discovery Accelerator, check your Application Event log for the Event ID 3036 warning. If you find it, check for Windows Search Service and stop it if found and see it's running. We're generating documentation about this and will have our CA and DA installation guides updated in our next release to recommend uninstalling the Windows Search role / feature on the CA and DA servers.Solved2.6KViews1like4CommentsCan EV/DA Exist Without Any Exchange Servers?
My company was acquired and are migrating all users to other company's AD/Exchange. We were/are doing journaling only on all MBs. (EV 9.02, & Exch 2010 SP1). No individual MB archiving. My new company is not planning to continue archiving in any form but will still have to have search/access/export abilityto all historical archive data via DA for discovery. EV will be forklifted over to the new datacenter and kept in the same AD domain with a local DC. No problems expected there. As sites & Exchange servers are migrated off, I've been simply deleting the tasks/targets in EV w/o any trouble. However, as we approach the end, I don't know if we have to leave a single exchange server nearby to maintain functionality with EV/DA. Can I just remove all Exchange tasks/servers references and completely decouple Exchange/EV when the time comes and not worry about loss of functionality? Since it's just journaling, once the last MBs come off there will be nothing being archived into EV, so I suspect the answer is 'yes,' but I'm not 100% and haven't found an article specifically referencing this. I've searched and found some similar Q's, but no bull's-eye references. Is there a TechNote that describes a particular process for this? Any help is appreciated.Solved683Views0likes5CommentsIs DA9sp2 supported with EV9sp3?
Is DA9sp2 supported with EV9sp3? I have heard that in EV version 9 that the Accelerator products will function as supported even if the (service pack level) version of EV is higher than the Accelerator version. Can someone confirm this is true and if so, update TECH53174 - Supported upgrade paths for Enterprise Vault (EV), Compliance Accelerator (CA), Discovery Accelerator (DA) and Discovery Collector. to reflect it?Solved591Views0likes1Comment
