NFS mount point on NetBackup 5230 Appliance
Hi Team, Please I need your expert advise on this solution: Customer has proposed implementing backup solution via NFS; this solution is based on having the centralized server IPs & file path where to send the backups to. We currently have Symantec NetBackup 5230 Appliance installed in this customer datacenter. Question: Will NetBackup 5230 Appliance support mount points from network file systems (NFS). This will enable customer backup their network file system data to the central storage location, which is on the NBU appliance. Thanks in advance, FelixSolved6.5KViews1like11Comments5230 Appliance - BIOS Warning
I have just installed a new 5230 appliance which shipped with 2603 installed. After initial configuration I upgraded the appliance to 261 which completed successfully in approximately 1 hour (MSDP pool only contained a couple of test backups). During the boot following upgrade I noticed a message as follows: "The installed version of the BIOS firmware is not correct. Contact your administrator to update the BIOS firmware" I was under the impression that the upgrade rpm packages updated all required firmware, O/S and NBU code ? I cannot locate any details regarding BIOS upgrades for the 5230 appliance. I don't know if this is specific to 261 (first 261 Iinstall I have completed) - has anyone come accross this ? Thanks, AJSolved4.9KViews1like6CommentsNBU5230 (Master Server) unable to communicate with NBU5230 Media Server
Hi Support, Please I need your urgent assistance. I am setting up a new NetBackup environment with two NBU 5230 appliances. 1x5230 will serve as the Master/Media server and the other 1x5230 will serve as Media server. The customer provided a private network, where IPs of both appliances can ping each other. However, after successfully setting up the appliance "Master/Media" I also try to setup the 2nd appliance as "Media server" but I got the errors below: Could not check if master server 'mbunbuapp01' has any storage objects for storage server 'mutnbuapp01'. Could not find EMM server of master server 'mbunbuapp01' (48:client hostname could not be found). NB: After setting up the 1st appliance master/media server, I did added the FQHN of the Media server to be to Settings > NetBackup AdditionalServers Addmedia-server of the Master/Media, but I still got the errors above. Because of the above error, I have not been able to setup the 2nd appliance as "Media server" which is suppose to communicate with appliance "Master/Media server" I also notice ports 5900 and 7578 were not open on the Master/Media server, could this be responsible for the applaince Media server not communication with the Master server. Hello, Having a little trouble getting 802.3ad nic teaming working on two 5230 appliances. I've configured teaming before on Windows 2008 servers and it seems to work fine. The network team configures LACP on the switch side, and on the server side, I create the team in 802.3ad mode. On the appliance however, I create the bond, and on cli as well as through the web interface of the appliance, it looks to be created and functional, but on the switch side it doesn't look to be active. The bond has been created with eth1,2 and 3 ports (1 Gb/s). The web interface shows them all as up, and the network configuration shows the correct IP on bond0(eth1,eth2,eth3) with bond mode at 802.3ad. On the switch side, for some reason, the bond automatically splits into 2 separate bonds, 1 bond with eth1 and the other with eth2 and eth3. Both bonds show with LACP configured. We have two identical appliances, and we have tried configuring bonding on both appliances and the exact same thing happens. Has anyone come across this, or have any suggestions of what else to check? Thanks!Solved4.3KViews2likes8CommentsEncryption option on Appliance 5230

Hi, We have a problem with a new 5230 appliance that we are installing. When the IPMI is configured with a proper gateway we are able to connect to it, but when it has a gateway of itself configured it responds to ping and can open it in browser. Here's the setup: Appliance IPMI IP set to: 10.10.10.2 Laptop IP set to: 10.10.10.3 Gateway set to: 10.10.10.1 This is all connected via a simple 1GB hub, nothing fancy. In the above config, I am unable to connect to the IPMI. When I set the IP on the IPMI to 10.10.10.2, I am able to ping and browse the applaince. What simple thing is it that I'm missing as to why it won't work when the appliance gateway is configured to what it needs to be in order to be on the network?
