Granular Restore 8.5 not able to open Exchange Mail
I just updated all my servers with BESR 8.5... it's working fine except for one thing... Granular restore 8.5 is not able to open "Exchange Mail"... I always get the following error : ************************** (i) Make sure that the volume which contains 'N:\First Storage Group\Mailbox Database.edb' was selected for backup (ii) Try selecting a different Storage Group ************************** I get the same problem with all my databases... if I open the same backup with Granular Restore 8.0 (previous version), it's working fine. what can be the problem? should I contact Symantec to get this resolved?3.2KViews0likes51CommentsUnable to find the Exchange Information File (EIF)
I have installed the trial version of the "Symantec Backup Exec Recovery Granular Restore option". It is version 8.5.1.29668 and it is installed on Symantec's Recovery Server version 8.5.1.29666. Server is 2003R2 Standard Edition SP2. The image data is backedup on a network external drive (western digital) from which I can restore without any problems. On the server I had installed Outlook 2007 which I removed and installed Outlook 2003. However I always get the same error whrn I attempt to open an sv2i image. It finds the file, however when the window "loading Email...." loads, the applicationtries to mount volume images with NO luck and get the error Unable to find the Exchange Information File (EIF)1.2KViews0likes7CommentsGRO must run 64bit to recover Exch 07?
I'm running v 8.02 everything and have been doing fine. I do not use BESRM, mighttry that againwith v8.51. Up til 2 weeks ago we were running Exchange 03 on Server 03. On the central system (the one that would be the manager if I ran it,hosts the RAID where everything is stored) I have GRO installed and it was working with Exch 03 albeit slow. We migrated to Server 08 with Exch 07 and everything in the production environment is running well. I installed BESR 8.02 and it is running (remember, no manager installed). Today I ran GRO and attempteda restore on the EXCHANGE1 image and I get... (i) Microsoft Exchange 2007 can only be recovered on a 64 bit operating system, run this software on a system with a 64 bit OS installed this seems to want me to violate 2 things about GRO I was told by support... 1) run GRO on the system where the image is store, not across a network connection 2) never run GRO on the exchange server itself (thus a 64bit os) I suppose I could run GRO on some other 64bit system but that still causes it to access over the network. Beyond that, it makes no sense to run GRO on some random 64bit server somewhere. My other option, upgradingmy central server to a 64bit os,would require me to upgrade my hardware since the central system is a 32bit processor. What am I missing here? /RB893Views0likes3CommentsGranular Restore Option (8.5) not showing all server disks (and preventing mounting of Exchange)
I have a problem with a new build of BESR 8.5 with GRO where it only seems to load the C: drive of the serverloaded with the sv2i file. For example I haveC:, H: and I: drive on my server and each of the v2i files are created successfully. However, GRO only mounts the c: drive. Further, in the case of my exchange server when I try and mount the message store via the Exchange mail option (where dataI: disk), I'm getting the error "unable to locatebackup copy ofa storage group" with the details "make sure the volume which contains 'i:\program files\exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb' was selected for backup".765Views0likes7CommentsWhat is the highest version of Backup Exec System Restore for SBS2003?
Hello all, I have an SBS2003 with BESR v8.5. I like the software, but MS is telling me the drivers included in v8.5 can cause system instability. We are considering an upgrade if available. Thanks, -JohnSolved701Views1like2CommentsGRO with Exchange mailboxes and non-mail items
Does GRO support _any_recovery of calendar items, tasks, notes, etc? I can maybe understand not supporting item level recovery, but when I attempt to recover a whole mailbox I just get a PST of the mail items, but no calendar, tasks, etc. This is obviouslynot the entire mailbox. Am I missing something? Is there a way to recover the _entire_ mailbox using BESR and/or GRO? Thanks, DM688Views0likes5CommentsTypical load times for GRO and Exchange?
When I try to doa restore of an Exchange item it is taking45 minutes or moreto load the items. Our information store is not as big as it could be and I can't imagine using this on a truly large systems. Mounting Volume Images goes quickly... then it sits on Preparing Storage Group seeminling endlessly. I have no idea how long it stays on Opening Message Store as I've never watched it, I go away and come back after an hour to restore a single email. Is this what everyone else is seeing, is this normal? /RB627Views0likes4CommentsGranular Recovery in an SBS 2003 environment
Has anyone found a solution to this dilemma? The Granular Recovery Option requires that Outlook be installed on the system in order to retrieve mail messages. In a Small Business Server 2003 environment, this means that Outlook would have to be installed on the Exchange server - a configuration Microsoft does not supportas it creates problems with the MAPI interface. Has anyone figured out how to use granular recovery with a Small Business Server?627Views0likes4Comments
