EV11.0.1 SCOM EVWebsiteConnectivity.monitor error
Hello all, We use SCOM to monitor our EV environment, and we see on one of our installs the following alert: Source: http://evservername.domain.com:80/EnterpriseVaultAPI Full Path Name: evservername.domain.com\servername\Common\Server connectivity\http://evservername.domain.com:80/EnterpriseVaultAPI Alert Monitor: EVWebsiteConnectivity.Monitor Created: 20/04/2015 11:24:48 Alert Description: Cannot connect to website on server evservername. Website URL: http://evservername.domain.com:80/EnterpriseVaultAPI There are no events in the eventlogs (Enterprise Vault, System, Application). There are no issues reported using the search, There are no other issues reported. Does anyone know if this warning is a false alert? I do not see a reason to investigate or try to fix, but the SCOM team worries there is something wrong what needs to be fixed. this environment has been upgraded from 10SP4CHF2 to EV11SP1CHF1 on 18/04/2015 without issues. Thanks. GJ1.2KViews7likes3CommentsHow do you find what objects have been retrieved from the Archive in the last 48 hours?
I'm new to EV (inherited it last month) and we just had an issue where an FSA protected volume suddenly lost 250GB of spaceover the weekend. We show that no one added that much data to the volume so the only explination we can come up with is someone or something triggered a restore from archive for the 250 GB. Being new to EV, however, I can't figure out how to prove this or find what person or process casued it assuming it was EV. I've looked at the reports and they seem weak on this type of need and I found out we do not have auditing turned on. Can anyone help? Hi Everyone, I need the SQL script to query my Enterprise Vault v8.0 SP4 that is older than 3 years. Can anyone share your SQL script to know how much disk in the vault it consumes that'd be great. Thanks,Solved1.4KViews4likes7CommentsMonitoring Vault Cache synchronization failures
We have few users in our environment who are having vault cache synchronization failures. There are various scenarios for these failures. In one such scenario, we have seen the failures were temporary (i.e) the next synchronization run completes successfully. For example, Whenever there is a failure, we see below event in the log: 09/09/2014 01:12:48 AM LogName=Application SourceName=Enterprise Vault EventCode=9999 EventType=3 Type=Warning ComputerName=[machine name] TaskCategory=None OpCode=Info RecordNumber=88657 Keywords=Classic Failed to synchronize Virtual Vault for [username] on [machine name] : (sync initiated: 2014-04-07 16:15:37; sync succeeded: 2013-11-07 23:23:45) But later when the synchronization completes successfully, we do not have any success event in the log. Few questions: - Is there any way to monitor failures only if there are 'Items to be archived' or 'Items to be downloaded'? - Do we have any method to query these pending items ourselves? (any registry key or in any file).I was looking at the options for querying the same but couldn't find any. Seems Symantec is able to query this information and display it in the Vault Cache Synchronization window, which means that there should be a way for us too. - Any method to eliminate the false positives (as mentioned above)? We already tried the client diagnostics (as described inhttp://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO77190) but it is of little help as it as duplicate information. For example, same machine with the same user has been reported twice, one as a failure and other as a success. We are planning to setup a monitoring which will report only the genuine failures and eliminate these false positives. Any help in this regard will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance :).Solved1.2KViews3likes5CommentsHow to manage the Enterprise Vault data content when it grows big and you are running out of disk space ?
Hi People, Can anyone suggest to me what is the best way to manage and sustain the Enterprise Vault data that grow bigger and larger every month ? My situation is that whenever my Exchange Server 2007 database drive is running low of disk space, I'd go to lower down the EV archive items from 6 months into 5 months and now down to 3 months just to create some room to breathe in the Exchange Server mailbox. I understand that this is not resolving the problem in the best way as it should since we just shifting away the disk space usage from Exchange into the Enterprise Vault. However what are my options to manage and sustain the growing data in the EV ? Can i offload to tape for the Vault data disk and then deleting it manually, what happens with the indexing and search when the data is archived to tape and I want to retrieve it later for some reason ? Any kind of assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Solved2.3KViews3likes12CommentsUnable to view the Vault Archive Status using http://EVServername/enterprisevault/usage.asp
Hi All, I'm the domain administrator in the company but somehow I got the error when I tried to view the Vault archive status as follows: Vault Store Usage Reporter Click a Vault Store name to view a report of usage by Billing Account. You can also save the report as a tab-separated-value file in one of two formats: Save usage report by Archive Name Save usage report by Billing Account Note: Large reports may take some time to generate. Hi, reading through https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/gentle-approach-storage-expiry before we embark on a reduction on our site policy for expiry of items, and i wondered if there was a way to measure the number of items processed/removed, and load on servers etc whilst running this as a test ? We wish to change storage expiry from 7 years to2 years across 40000 archives, but initially will only target 1000 users and reduce from 7 to 6 years, to ensure we don't kill our infrastructure. Is there a way to monitor the impact of this during the initial 3 hour run, as it will run in production hours (as we don't want it to run at the same time as the overnight archiving tasks). so that we can then consider adding more archives to the new policy and trimming from 6 to 5,4,3, and eventually 2 years. Hello all, I've been working on an issue we had the last few weeks, where the VAC reported 'items waiting to be indexed', and where the count went up day by day. While working with support, and in this forum, I also accidentally found an KB article of Symantec, describing hanging searches on DA/CA. As these use the indexes, I read the article. The article mentions that a specific Microsoft Update can cause issues with certain programms (TSM, SEP) and affects ASP, .Net and IIS. Hm... Indexing uses these too. We initially left archiving tasks in reportmode, to allow indexing to cactch up, ran dtraces etc. No succes. Support advised we might need to reinstall the indexing binaries. I decided to first have the updated MS Update applied. After having that update applied, and the EV-servers rebooted, indexing catched up. The VAC now shows "No problems detected". Information can be found here: The Symantec article: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH232439 The updated MS KB article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3092627 I hope this assists some of you in figuring out in resolving the issue (if you encounter this) Regards, GJ695Views2likes2Comments
