Catalogue Operation has failed
Hi All I've spent a few hours searching and trying different methods online to try and get our Tape Cataloge process to work. We have some LTO5 Tapes that were used to backup information in Backup Exec 2010. Since these tapes were used we have upgraded to Backup Exec 2012 (service Pack 4). At first I though tthe catalogue process was failing because of this, but further investigation I can see that it is failing on tapes that have only been used in Backup Exec 2012 When trying to cataloge the tapes after an inventory the job is failing and is producing these error messages: Job ended: 04 June 2014 at 20:23:52 Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe00084b7 - A backup set was created which contains no data. See the job log for details. Final error category: Job Errors For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-33975# Catalog- sanapp2.progressrail.com\WHATSUP Null backupset. Possible reason: Cataloging SW Compressed ArcServe Tape. Backupexec does not support this operation In regards to the above message, we are using Compresson on Hardware using our Dell Powervault TL4000 drive. I have tried following this support article but it makes no difference:http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH142684 I dont have much hair but the little I do have, im slowly starting to pull out. Would appreciate it if anyone could share some information on this. Thanks CraigSolved1.5KViews1like2Commentsnot able to backup EMC VNXe3100

Hi, We have a Dell Fluid FS8600 NAS and are using the NDMP option within Backup Exec 2014 to backup the NAS over NDMP. The backup job has been running and backing up TBs of data over the past few weeks but has started to give an error of late. The error is: - "NDMP Log Message: Mover: Data connection socket read error. NDMP Mover Halted: Internal Error NDMP Data Halted: Aborted " A full backup normally would backup over 10TB whereas the same backup job is failing after a few hundred GB with this message. where can I find further information about this error? Is there a specific NDMP log file within Backup Exec? Any help greatly appreciated. Colin.2.2KViews0likes9CommentsBE 15 NDMP Option: Poor ratios in restores
Hello all, I have seen many posts in the forum on this topic, but I am still with some problems in one of our clients that has the following infrastructure: In this environment is only company performs various jobs to support the data stored in different volumes of the NetApp Filer and poured onto tape. This environment is composed of: Backup Exec Server 15 FP1 (Build 14.2.11801162 ) Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (full installation) Service Pack 1 64-bit (Virtual Machine) NetApp Filer Release 8.2 .3P3 & -Mode. Robotics Library 3G HP MSL LTO4 (It is connected by direct to FC storage.) There were several troubleshooting, including disabling the DAR. The restore 00031 corresponds to the option to disable "Enable Direct Access Recovery", the restore 00032 corresponds to the enable option. It seems to me that the restore 00031 runs through the entire tape, the other option does not. Ratios are very poor, taking into account that the bookstore is connected directly to the NetApp ... Honestly, I have always be implemented with the bookstore or destination connected to the BE Server, but it is my first time in an environment like this.. Some idea because you can come the low performance in the restorations? Attach restore jobs logs. Since already thank you for any comment, council or a way to see if it is a problem of BE or the hardware itself.449Views0likes0CommentsBackup NetApp snapvault snapshot to tape
Hi, At this moment we have the following setup: NetApp HQ which is used for production NetApp DR which is used for disaster recovery Server with Windows 2012 R2 and Backup Exec 2014 Both NetApp's are running in Cluster mode version 8.3SP2 NetApp HQ creates Snapvault snapshots which are replicated to the NetApp DR. We use Backup Exec with NDMP to backup from the NetApp DR to tape. We are running this for two weeks now and we notice that the NDMP backup is rapidly becoming larger. It looks like it is backing up al snapshots, which is not what I want. How can I verify what exactly is backed up and make sure that only the latest snapshot is backed up?Solved673Views0likes1CommentNDMP & SMTape
Hi there! I'm working on a solution where a customer will be wanting to backup a Netapp storage appliance to tape, so I'm evaluating the NDMP option with Backup Exec 2014/15. NDMP is able to deliver both 'dump' backups of data volumes (rather crude) but also as an extention of NDMP the 'SMTape' style of backup allows some more sophisticated choices, including incremental and differential style backups. Does anyone know if Backup Exec 2014/15 with the NDMP option fully supports SMTape? For reference we'd be looking at a Netapp FAS2552 with Data OnTape 8.3 in cDOT configuration. Many thanks! -- Mark Lomas1.2KViews0likes5CommentsBE 2010 R3 Tape Library Problem ?
Hi everybody, i have a strange problem with a new HP Tape Library. We got a new netapp filer "netapp03" and configured fc zoning, so the old and new library is visible at the filer. sysconfig -m/-t are showing changer and tape devices. The HP MSL2024 G3 Series with LTO5 is the old one. The HP MSL2024 LTO6 is new. The problem is, the HP Ultrium6 Device is not under the HP MSL2024 LTO6 Changer ?? Am I missing something, some mistakes in FC Zoning ? Any hints are welcome. regards DanielSolved1.3KViews0likes8CommentsError when adding EMC VNX 5400 Filer
Hi, I got a problem when adding a EMC VNX 5400 Filer as NDMP storage. We use Backup Exec 2012 with latest Updates and Hotfixes. The following article describes our problem perfectly but the given solution doesn't work: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH195037 Because Hotfix 199190 doesn't exist any more and that stuff is included in Hotfix 201596 I installed the last one. But that didn't solve my problem. Is there any solution for this problem? FlorianSolved2KViews1like8Comments
