Symantec hasn’t officially announced that 11d is supported on Windows 2008 but there are plenty of knowledge base documents that have Hot Fixes and solutions for 11d on 2008. Even the download section has files for 11d on 2008 (32 and 64-bit). I haven’t upgraded to 12 because of state government budget cuts and a possible job loss. Therefore, I have to make 11d work on 2008, which doesn’t seem impossible…
Regardless of what I mentioned above, I’m running BE 11d SP4 on a 32-bit Windows 2003 SP2 domain member server, which is a supported scenario. Exchange 2007 is running on a 64-bit Windows 2008 SP1 domain member server. The 64-bit remote agent is installed on this server and the only things backed up are the Information Store and log files. Nothing pertaining to Windows 2008, i.e. System State, is backed up.
When creating the backup job, the Exchange source selection was done via “All Resources – Domains – Microsoft Windows Network – Domain name – Server name – …”. The GRT backup completes successfully but individual mailboxes are not visible when attempting a restore. The same thing happens if I select the source as “All Resources – Domains – Active Directory Domains – Domain.ext – Server.domain.ext – …”.
Thanks
