Enterprise Vault 10.0.4 - Virtual Vault - COM Error in event log
Hi Team, I hope there is someone out there that can help me decipher the message below. The outcome of these eventsis the user is unable to access certain items in their virtual vault & receive the message "Enterprise Vault is unable to retrieve this archived item. There was a problem opening this item. Try again later". I am currently performing a partial reset of the cache, however it would be good to understand the message in more detail to help with troubelshooting the issue. One of our clients are migration their Exchange 2010 archived mailboxes to O365. The concern is that when the users are migrated, it will break the link (stub) between legacy EV and destination mailbox (on Exchange online)which will leave the users unable to access the historical data. Is there a way for users to have access to their legacyarchives while the mailbox is being migrated toO365? What are the migration options to maintain the stubb connection intact? Speaking to one 3rd party professional, he suggested that stubs loseconnection will depend how the users are migrated from Exch to O365. What method people follow to ensure continuity of legacy EV system? Any document to support the above discussion would be appreciated.Solved4KViews0likes10CommentsOutlook Virtual Vault and Virtual Cache - How to redirect it to the Indexing Server
Hi Techie Folks, Hope all are doing good. Need some information, because Veritas Documents are confusing. It isn't for beginners like me. I have one Archiving Server and One indexing Server (Dedicated to their respective roles) If I am going to enable Virtual Vault for my users, to which servers the request will go to download the information to the Virtual Vault Cache. Is it the Server which is dedicated for Archiving or to the server which is dedicated for Indexing. I am going to roll out virtual vault to batch of users and check whether it is working fine and then in batches until I rolled out to all users. Please guide me through the right way. Please help me in this regards.646Views0likes2CommentsModify Searcho2k.asp Default Search Behaviour

Hi Symantec Community, I am running 4 VMWare VMs with EV 11.0.1 CHF3 all with Windows Server 2012 (not R2). We are running Archiving on 8 Exchange 2010 SP3 Mailbox servers and Journaling 1 Exchange 2010 SP3 mailbox server. Two of the EV servers are dedicated to Exchange Mailbox Archiving (4 tasks - 1 per Exchange server - staggered timing), and two of them are dedicated to Journaling (3 tasks - all same Exchange server). The issue is with our Exchange Journal mailboxes getting hammered with load that the EV Journaling servers cannot keep up. Servers' Specs: Archiving/Directory Server1 - 16 cores/16 GB RAM Archving Server2 - 8 cores/16 GB RAM Journaling Server3 - 8 cores/16 GB RAM - 3 mailbox targets (2 active and 1 inactive) Journaling Server4 - 8 cores/16 GB RAM - 2 mailbox targets (1 active & 1 inactive) Targets: Journal-Inactive (not being Journaled via Exchange, just trying to catch up) Journal-Inactive-2 (not being Journaled via Exchange, just trying to catch up) Journal-Active (Journaled via Exchange databases) Journal-Active-2 (Journaled via Exchange databases) The inactive mailboxes are no longer being Journaled via Exchange databases, but the active ones are via Exchange database level journaling. We have approximately 300,000 emails journaled per day, and we've allocated two dedicated servers to balance this load. We have two Journal Vault Stores writing to the same EMC Centerea. After much troubleshooting with Symantec and our vendor, we have NOT reached a solution on why our Journaling stalls out. My tasks are set to 10 concurrent connections with 10,000 items per pass for the inactive mailboxes, and the active ones are set to 5 concurrent connections with 5000 items per pass. Each Vault Store has it's own SQL database on a beefy physical server. The physical SQL box has 20 cores and 256 GB of RAM. I regularly perform offline maintenance on the affected databases, per the TECHNOTE from Symantec, but this only has a temporary effect on the speed/frequency of archiving via the Journaling tasks. I have noticed that we encounter many DCOM errors in the EV logs, and there is also a number of C-Clip errors regarding missing or failed savesets. The MSMQ queues are within reasonable limits, but I've noticed that the Storage Queue Limits are being met (250,000, which is the limit on the server level within Admin Console). Does anyone know if there is a precedent for this issue, and how I may be able to resolve it? Symatec support has had very limited success with troubleshooting, so I have come here for some additional support. Thanks in advance! Hey there!!! Needed a confirmation on a doubt I had. Having the same event as seen in the Status screen of the VAC and in TECH51290. Currently in my environment I have SQL 2012. It most likely must have been an upgrade from SQL 2008. The Compatibility Mode is set to 100 (SQL 2008). Will it make sense to follow this technote?933Views0likes3CommentsSetEVExchangePermissions for Single Server

Dear Experts, a Weird problem: I can open archived items in a number of shared mailboxes without any trouble at all. However in one shared mailbox, the following process occurs. I click on the item shortcut, this is followed by a dialogue box with a green progress bar and 'Enterprise Vault is retrieving your item.'and 'Your password may be required...' A further 'Windows Security' dialogue box opens listing my domain\userid and requiring a password to be entered. If I enter the password, the 'Windows Security' panel closes and reopens again with the same credentials (my credentials). If I respond with a 'Cancel' instead of the password, I receive the content of the shortcut item, with a dark grey band containing the legend "Thisitem was archived by Enterprise Vault on 14 June 2014 14:47:38" and "There was an error loading this item - some functionality may not be available". If I click on View the original item, which is displayed in the body of the shortcut, as a link, I am again prompted with my domain\userid credentials. I enter my password and receive the disappointing result of a new browser panel that contains the helpful legend 'Symantec Enterprise Vault - Error' on a yellow background with, on a new line: 'You do not have access to this vault'. I have checked the access control rights for the shared mailbox - they appear to be correct. I checked the access control rights for the archive in Enterprise Vault via the VAC and they do not appear to be incorrect. [There are some users/ groups with automatically set access rights that I can neither change nor delete. I do not know how to use the oft referred to "zap process".I'm sure that it is simple if you've seen it used, but I've never seen it used !!] This ocurrs for any archived item in this particular shared mailbox. I can still open archived items in other shared mailboxes. I am clearly missing something obvious in this process. a touch of not seeing the wood for the trees, possibly. Please put me on the path to joy and success ?3.5KViews1like17CommentsEV | Powershell | Enable Mailboxes for Archiving | How to?
Hi I would like to automate this procedure using Powershell. Do you have an example of a Powershell script which can be used? When I manually enable the mailboxes for archive all I do is use the "Enable mailboxes for Archiving" > List all available mailboxes > New mailboxes only > selectthe user > go next Vault Store and Retention Category are defaults> next The mailboxe primary account > next Immediatly using the default archivning settings > Finish I will then create a shell so all I need to do is insert the username.
