Customers quite often misinterpret our compatibility lists that show 5.5 U3 as supported from 7.6.0.2 onwards. After releasing U3B VMware decided to rename U3 to U3A which our support statement applies to – but not 3B. 2. Currently Netbackup is not supporting Vsphere 5.5 3b version. With the vSphere 5.5 update 3b release, the support for SSLv3 is disabled by default for all services and ports as a protection against the POODLE vulnerability. Update 3b disables SSLv3 and breaks VDDK communications to vCenter and ESXi. There is a workaround for this problem which might work, but it is still unsupported. You would have to manually re-enable SSLv3 protocol on port 902 on ESXi and port 443 on vCenter. Please refer to TN below for more information. I would have to reiterate, the workaround may be considered as an option instead of rolling back Vcenter upgrade but it is still unsupported by Netbackup. Workaround/Solution:- 1. Do not disable SSLv3 in vCenter until all VMware backup hosts are upgraded to NetBackup version 7.6.1.1 includes VDDK 5.5.4 or above. 2. Throttle bandwidth on VMware backups
Any ideas how you would throttle the bandwidth of a media server that only does VMware VADP backups i.e. none of the clients have an agent installed. In the master server properties you can throttle bandwidth of the clients of a designated media server. My understanding is the throttling is done on the client-side via the NBU agent. The idea here is to restrict the bandwidth leaving a media server that goes through a physical firewall port. Current throttling is by limiting job count on policies.

deduplication works on different policies of same client?
Hi All, Platform: NBU applicance 2.6.0.2, master+media server + MSDP I am confused about deduplication and accelerator. Assume I have 2 policies, A and B. Both policy are the same. Policy type VMware, backing up only 1 VM and is the same VM. Accelerator enabled. To MDSP pool. Assume there is a successful full backup done by policy A. If I now run a manual full backup using policy B, will it reference to the full backup at policy A for deduplication and accelerator? Another question about san and nbd. Assume I use policy A and performed a successful "nbd" full backup. If I now enforce policy A to use "san" only, will deduplication and accelerator works as usual? Please kindly help! thanks a lot!

Error 156 and 4207
Hi I am encountering an error in Netbackup with the VmWare snapshot. Had a peak and i find 2 errors, 156 which is generally an error getting the snapshot, and the another error which says the following: Critical bpbrm (pid=35437) from client SVVTPOBBE03: FTL - cannot open /usr/openv/netbackup/online_util/fi_cntl/bpfis.fim.SVVTPOBBE03_1436968819.1.0 What i dont understand is that this client is a Windows 2008 server, why is it looking up for the state file in /usr/openv...... location? Sins this client is a windows server, it should have been looking for this state file in something similar to C:/programfiles........ location. Will appreciate help here. Thanks.

VM restore from Incremental backup
Hi Experts, I have recent incremental backups on july 5 and july 4 and full backup on july 3. I want july 5 version of VM. How do i select the vmdk file in java BAR console in netbackup. Can i select only july 5 incremental(such that it will automatically select july 3 full backup) or do i have to restore july 3 full backup first continued by july 5 incremental backup.
