Changing tmpdir on Linux for v10.5
I've tried adding TMPDIR=/var/tmp/netbackup in /etc/init.d/netbackup and adding TMPDIR and TEMPDIR into /usr/openv/var/global/nbdeployutilconfig.txt These do not change the TMPDIR I am looking at the fapolicyd rules and can see that tools like nbutil and nbhealthchecker create /tmp/par-726f6f74/temp-2527638/nbhealthchecker or /tmp/par-726f6f74/temp-3947960/nbutil This par-726f6f74 seems consistent at the moment, but that may change with the next upgrade, I don't know. I'd like to create a future proofed set of policies by taking control of the TMPDIR, and then Veritas is free to do what they want under that. example entries fapolicyd[613787]: rule=103 dec=deny_log perm=open auid=-1 pid=2527638 exe=/tmp/par-726f6f74/temp-2527638/nbhealthchecker : path=/tmp/par-726f6f74/temp-2527638/inc/lib/check_nb_license_validity.pm ftype=text/x-perl trust=0 fapolicyd[613787]: rule=103 dec=deny_log perm=open auid=-1 pid=2527638 exe=/tmp/par-726f6f74/temp-2527638/nbhealthchecker : path=/tmp/par-726f6f74/temp-2527638/inc/lib/check_nb_norestrictions_file_existence.pm ftype=text/x-perl trust=0 fapolicyd[613787]: rule=40 dec=deny_log perm=open auid=-1 pid=2530921 exe=/tmp/par-726f6f74/temp-2530921/nbhealthchecker : path=/tmp/par-726f6f74/temp-2530921/43caee81.so ftype=application/x-sharedlib trust=0 fapolicyd[613787]: rule=40 dec=deny_log perm=open auid=-1 pid=2530921 exe=/tmp/par-726f6f74/temp-2530921/nbhealthchecker : path=/tmp/par-726f6f74/temp-2530921/026f509c.so ftype=application/x-sharedlib trust=0 fapolicyd[613787]: rule=40 dec=deny_log perm=open auid=-1 pid=2530921 exe=/tmp/par-726f6f74/temp-2530921/nbhealthchecker : path=/tmp/par-726f6f74/temp-2530921/556e1d16.so ftype=application/x-sharedlib trust=0 fapolicyd[613787]: rule=40 dec=deny_log perm=open auid=-1 pid=2530921 exe=/tmp/par-726f6f74/temp-2530921/nbhealthchecker : path=/tmp/par-726f6f74/temp-2530921/2e36ee1c.so ftype=application/x-sharedlib trust=0 Thanks in advance Peter78Views0likes4CommentsError: Detected an attempt to install incorrect platform and/or operating system and version client binaries

Hi, In a NetBackup environment for PostgreSQL, I would like to know if it is possible to configure the inclusion of a continuous backup of the WAL archive files in addition to the usual PostgreSQL backup. In the documentation, it is specified that archiving must be enabled (archive_mode = on), but I haven't seen anywhere that it is specified that these are protected by the backup. Could you confirm if the WAL archives are being saved in the backup? Thanks and regards382Views0likes1CommentNetBackup for VMware: Exclude deleted blocks
The NetBackup 10.1 admin guide [1] says about the "Exclude deleted blocks" VMware optimizations: Reduces the size of the backup image by excluding any unused or deleted blocks within the file system on the virtual machine. This option supports the following file systems: Windows NTFS, and Linux ext2, ext3, and ext4. This option uses proprietary mapping technology to identify vacant sectors (allocated but empty) within the file system. Currently all our RHEL based virtual machines are using XFS filesystem, which is the default by Red Hat. Is this feature likely to come for XFS or is it worth to change our templates to use ext4 filesystem instead? I am curious if it is possible to back up the OS using only netbackup software without using bmr or vsr. There are system state and shadow copy components in the backup selection, and I am wondering if it is possible to backup and restore the server OS through these. If you know any ideas or technote addresses, please let me know.66Views0likes2CommentsSame Media server, new storage
I have a relatively new and unused Media Server VM connected successfully to our master. For a datastore I was initially using a (local to the VM) virtual disk. The next day I noticed that all of my backups had failed, because the virtual disk for the backups had fatal problems and was keeping the VM from booting. I removed the disk, confirmed that the Media server could connect and added new local storage, but backup failures make me believe that the new storage (slightly smaller and mounted using the same mount point) is not successfully configured. The Java console confirms that the media server is in successful contact with the master. Can someone please describe the process I should be using to inform the master that the old storage on the media server is defunct and that new storage is available? Hello, We have an old physical server that is running CentOS 7, and we need to install Netbackup agent to it to secure our data, We have our master server in Windows Server 2012 R2, so we try to install Netbackup agent 8.0 to our client. the setup was successful. The first thing that we tried to do, is retrieving master server CA Certificate with the command, nbcertcmd getCertificate, but we receive the following error: [root@siege-gea-nas bin]# ./nbcertcmd -getCertificate -server siege-adm-003.domain.local Request to get the certificate deployment level failed. EXIT STATUS 8500: Connection with the web service was not established. we tested network connectivity, and name resolutions and they work correctly. we even made sure that there's no firewall, weither in the master, media servers, or in the centos client. Could you please, tell us what we can do to install the client successfully?1.6KViews0likes5Comments
