BackupExecAgentAccelerator services stopped

We have a daily report that checks services if they are running and set to auto. Since updating to BE 2014 we have BackupExecAgentAccelerator service reporting as stopped. Does the service only run when backups are taking place and thus we can exclude it from our report or is this a problem that needs investigating? 

  • Just had another look, looks like the agent is installed but the servers will require a reboot.

  • What are the error messages in the Windows Eventlog and what is the OS of the remote server.

  • It is only appearing on servers that the agent isn't appearing to be installed on. From the weekends BE logs:

    Backup- SERVER1 Remote Agent not detected on SERVER1.

     

    Appologies I didn't notice this earlier until I went looking further into why our backup's are taking forever to finish. Agents probably didn't finish updated from BE2012 to BE2014.

     

    Edit: Will need to install Agents on missing servers.
