BackupExecRPCService stops working once a day

Hello,

I have Backup Exec 2014 SP2 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Machine freshly installed from scratch.

Once or twice a day the BackupExecRPCService stops working (not at the same time) and therefor jobs are failing. Sometimes the service stops when a backup job is running.

At the same time my BEDBG folder is growing with memory dumps.

The Windows Event log shows a huge amount of these events:

The trace is not set. Tracing is disabled.

    Do you have an AV installed? Do 1 of the following:

    1. Disable it and see if your errors go away;

    2. Put in exclusions for all the BE services and see if these errors occur again.

    Open up BEutility.exe and run a repair of the BEDB...see if this fixes things.

    Hello Craig,

    could you tell me what "Aging database" means? Is tha actually "saving database"?

    ...I suspect that manually purgses old records from the BEDB.

    That said, as long as you have a copy of the BEDB you can recover from anything going wrong...

    i followed the article and did a database repair like described.

    Can`t say if it helped till now, i will post tomorrow if the service stopped again

    Clear the existing dumps from the BEDBG folder. (This folder has a limit on capturing dumps)

    If running any AV, add exclusions to \Program Files\Symantec & \ProgramData\Symantec directories.

    If a crash reoccurs, pls log a support case for us to analyse the dump.

    I did the exclusions right from the beginning and cleared the dumps already but they occur again.

    I excluded the be services now additionally to the exclusions that i made before (I only saw in the best practice pdf that i should exclude the deduplication storage from av scanning)

    Will report tomorrow if that helps
