Bacup starts later than scheduled

I have a client running Backup Exec 8.x for windows 2000 server on a Windows XP pro machine. The backup is scheduled to run at 11:00pm but it does not start until 7:00am the next morning. Originally they were using a Windows 2000 pc as their server and were running the same version of the software. They replaced the 2000 machine whith the XP pro machine and installed the backup software.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Are the time zone settings correct?

Is it possible that someone missed a day, and the backup is starting when the tape is replaced first thing in the morning?
  • The time zone is correct and no days have been missed. The advanced scheduling options were used to schedule the job. Is there anything in those settings that may cause it to start later than scheduled? Also someone said that we would need to erase all of the tapes in order to get it to backup as it should.

I am relatively new to this backup software so any help is greatly appreciated.

Nope. Just adjust the OPP so that tapes have expired before they are due to be reused, or drag the tape volume to the scratch media set.

don't have a clue why the jobs are starting 6 hours late
  • Turns out that if the user locked the pc at night the backup wouldn't run. So now she doesn't lock it.
