Exclude DfsrPrivate folder

Hello,

Has anyone got a solution for the following problem in BUE 2010 R2?

I use Windows 2003 R2 DFS replication on a couple of file servers.  I am trying to exclude the Replication folder (DfsrPrivate) from my backup jobs to reduce backup capacity.  I have tried going into the relevant Selection List and from the Incude/Exclude button using the following path \\<ServerName>\**\DfsrPrivate (Resourrce Type: General).  Howevewr when I go back into the Selection list > View Selection List Details tab the Exclude has gone.

Thanks

Tony

  • Tony: Have you tried to browse to the server in question and then exclude it?

Also...BE 2010 R3 is an upgrade you should be making...it fixes a number of issues with previous versions!

  • Folders under DSF are backed up when you backup the shadows copy component on that volume.  When you select the actual volume, nothing is backed up.

If you want to exclude the DSF data, just de-select the shadows copy component from the backup of the volume.
