Inventory tape device = tape clean cycle?
I have a job schedule to inventory the tape library M-F the cleaning tape media mounts as part of this process. The maximum cleaning count was set to 50 (i've increased it to 100 now) and the mount is now at 55. When the library goes to auto(?) clean it fails as the tape thinks it has cleaned 50 times even though I suspect it hasn't. I don't want to waste a new cleaning tape every few months, how do I fix this problem?
BE2014sp1.
Example of the error:
Job started : Friday, 28 November 2014 5:00:41 PMJob ended : Friday, 28 November 2014 5:23:25 PMFinal error: 0xe0008234 - Library Error - attempt to clean a drive in a library with expired or bad cleaning media.
Final error category: Backup Media ErrorsCompleted status: Failed
If setting the cleaning slot definition does not fix it
In BE 2012 (and I assume in BE 2014 as well - the only reason I am quoting 2012 is my tape library is on 2012, not 2014 so this is where I checked the behaviour), if you go to the Storage screen and open up the details of the slots object in the library, and then go to slots tab on left side of dialog, all your slots will be listed.
You can multi-select in this screen (using Shift or CTRL) and then you can right click to bring up a menu with "Inventory now" as one of the options that gives you a sub-choice of Schedule (as well as Inventory now)
As such you should be able to create a selection without the cleaning tape slot selected. BTW still define that slot as cleaning as BE needs to know for BE to run an actual cleaning job.
