Issues Restoring from Backup Tapes

I have 4 month end tapes from April 2014.  I have inserted them in the tape library,  I have inventoried them and cateloged them.  I can see all the data on the tapes when I go to properties.  BUT, when I try to restore,  the date range that I put in will not bring up the tape data.

I am using Backup Exec 2014 Service Pack 2.  The server that I am wanting to restore data to is still in place.  Nothing has changed.  I have restored data before so I am a little taken aback regarding what I could be doing incorrectly.

 

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Cathy,

     

    You ran an Inventory before, right?

    Have you tried to browse for those tapes and then tried the restore from there?

    From your document, look at the screen after you said, "As you can see Slot 7 HSIG-MS1 Resource is HSIG dated 5/4/2014".  On this screen, have you tried right-clicking on the backup set that you want and then doing a restore?

    I remember some other users complaining about the same problem.  I can't remember what is the solution.  Have you tried updating to SP2 and the latest hotfixes?

    Are you able to use the "Search" feature from the restore wizard to search for the data which you want to restore ?

    If not, uncheck the option "use storage-based catalogs" and then recatalog the tape. Check the restore selections again.

    ...try before the actual date and after the actual date. BE's view of the date range for tapes not containted in the BEDB is faulty...always has been.

    Craig...  Still nothing.  I tried 1 month prior,  6 months prior.  I  have the tapes loaded and I ran the catelog on them.  What else can I do?  I really need to be able to restore this mailbox.  Also,  I cannot restore ANY data from these tapes.

    With BE 2014, you are able to restore from the media. Try right-clicking on the tape and do a restore

    Craig:

    I have ran an inventory and catelog.  I can see the tapes in the tape library and I can see the data just fine.  Even if I highlight the tape and right click and do a restore, nothing shows up to restore.

    Yes I have tried that and I see nothing to restore.  But if I look at the properties of the tape,  I can see all the data.

    Why don't you post some screenshots to show your problem?

    Here are the screen shots of the catalog I did  (again) this morning.  Then showing the tape information from the tapes loaded in the tape library.  Then showing the Restore Wizard.  I have done restores many many times before.  I am very familuar with the process and yet with this,  I cannot show the date I want to restore.  I have rebooted my computer.  Placed the tapes in different slots just to make sure but still I cannot restore.  When I try to do the restore from the tape it will not show anything.
