Moving BE14 V-ray to BE15 V-ray

Hi there, i'm decided to move BE14 to BE15, but my problem is that i dont know how to do that, the BE14 is installed in a OS WIN2008R2, and i need to migrate all the configurations and jobs to BE15 that has already a clean install in a OS WIN2012R2, sorry for bad english!!

  • I forgot to mention that the new install of BE15 is in another server (same host machine)

  • Best bet is to upgrade the current media server to BE 15 and then migrate as per the TN below:

The process should be the same, but grab copies of your Catalogs/Data folders from your current media server BEFORE doing anything.

    Thanks1

  • The article that you mentioned says same OS version, my case it's different, will that be a problem?

  • I believe you are using a virtual machine for your media server.  Note that there are some configurations which are not supported, like accessing real devices, e.g. tape drives, etc.

  • The above KB posted by Craigv will help only if you first run an in-place upgrade of the existing BE 2014 to BE 15 on the same server. I  would recommend this method since this involves an automatic upgrade.

An alternative method would be to copy the existing Data & Catalog folders to the new BE 15 server and manually run the upgrade using BEMIG - https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH50537.html

  • First of all, thanks for all the replies, so what i need to do is:

1- Upgrade media server BE14 to BE15 that is installed on 2008R2

2- Copy the data and catalog folders to new BE15 that is installed on 2012R2

    Obs:

Actually the clean media server installation is in another virtual machine, i'm not planning to upgrade the 2008R2

  • Essentially that is the way it is done, yes.

    Thanks!
