Backup Exec 2014 - Backup Schedule

    You don't have to worry about slots.  BE will be able to handle it.  

    As I said in my article, it does not matter which tape your backups end up on.

    If I were you, I would just have 3 media sets

    Daily - OPP = 7 days

    Weekly - OPP = 28 days

    Monthly - OPP = 12 months.

    The jobs would just target these media sets.  All the tapes would be in the scratch media set and in any slot.  Once they are written, they would be in the targeted media set and protected accordingly.  Once they expired, either leave them in their media set or move them to the scratch media set.

    Life is simple.  Don't make it complicated.

    You might want to add an export stage to your weekly and monthly jobs so that the tapes would be exported to them mailslot after the job.  You can then collect them from the mailslot.  This way you don't have to hunt for them in the magazines.
