Restore Virtual machine version in diffret version (8 to 10)

Hi.

All VMs on my vmware 5.5 are in Virtual Machine version 8 or 9.


Why BE 2014 sp2 after restore VMs are in Virtual Machine version 10?


Virtual Machine version 10 is incompatible with my vSphere client.


Why BE 2014 SP2 changing Virtual Machine version to 10 ?

How to fix it?

    In the restore wizard, there is an option "Restore virtual machine to the most recent hardware version".. You may want to uncheck this option during restore.

    Also when we restore a virtual machine, we create an empty one and then restore into the empty virtual machine, hence the H/W version can change to either latest or original (based on setting mentioned by VJware)
