Symantec Backup EXEC 2012 V-Ray Licensing
Hello,
I have this prodcution environment:
- 2 physical servers with HyperV on each one. Each server has 2 processors 6 Cores each. The first Hyper-V Host has 2 Virtual Machines; one has Active Directory and SQL Server, and the other VM has Exchange server 2013. The Second Hyper-V Host has also 2 Virtual Machines; one has SQL Server and the other VM has another Exchange server 2013.
- 1 physical backup server 1 CPU Quad Core (backup exec Vray Edition is installed on this machine).
On the first Hyper-V Host we want to be able to backup & restore:
- The Virtual Machine Running Active Directory.
- The SQL Server.
On the Second Hyper-V Host we want to backup:
- The Virtual Machine Running SQL Server.
- The Exchange Server.
We are using the Symantec Backup EXEC 2012 V-Ray Edition.
What will we need in terms of licenses and Agents ?
Best Regards.
If they are 5 processors then you'd need 5 licenses(I am still wondering why the physical server is being given a V-Ray license. It could work with a normal Backup Exec 2012 license). Backup Exec follows the same strategy like other virtualization enabling applications(like VMWare) as far V-Ray licenses are concerned.
