"Unknown Media"

I put in an old tape that I know was labeled "Mailbox 1"  I need to do a restore from this tape, but when I do a drive inventory it is showing up as "Unknown Media" and the restore job won't use it then.  Is there a way to 'relabel' it without losing data or to otherwise force the restore job to use that tape?

ASAP help would be appreciated.

    This looks like the tape has been overwritten or something.
     
    Relabelling will wipe off all the data in the tape. So be aware of that. Renaming will do no harm.
     
    Is the issue present only with this tape or every other media? Try and narrow down tape drive issues.

    All other media appears to be fine.  The original entry for the media is in the correct media set, so I am unsure how I can rename the tape? 
     
    I am suspecting it is tape damage or something, but am just hoping its not.
