Win2k3 Media Sever Cannot Connect to Win2k8 remote agent

I have a windows server 2003 R2 running the media server with version 12 rev 1364 of BUPEXEC. I have a remote agent installed on a brand new Windows Server 2008 64bit server, the remote agent utility version is 12 Rev 1364. The Windows 2003 server has been running our backups for a while now and still does so on another domain controller currently, but I cannot get the new server to backup. The connection will not establish, everytime I try to test the connection it shows as failed. I have checked the registry keys and they are set to restrict anonymous support = 1, port 10000 is only being used by BUPEXEC, remote access to the server is enabled as we can administer the server remotely. Everything detailed here has been gone over http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/253759.htm  however we still cannot gain access to the 2008 server from the 2003 server.

Any help would be appreciated.
