WSUS Database stops backups succeeding

I've started getting an error on my SBS server:

V-79-57344-33938 -
An error occurred on a query to database SUSDB.
The item UBIQ-SERV1\MICROSOFT##SSEE\SUSDB in use - skipped.

This didn't used to happen before I applied the last set of backup patches.

  • Is there any other error in the Job Log? That's a pretty generic error. Aslo, check the SQL error logs for errors on the job.

First thing that comes to mind is that you applied hotifx 37 for 10d 5629. There is a fix that was included that caused the job to fail if it ran into any databases with multiple backslashes in its path. If this is the case, the path will need to be fixed before the backups will succeed again.

  • Well, I'm not using AFO, so I guess it can't be that..

The only other error in the log is about exchange mailboxes (I've another thread on that).. But thats it..
  • Hello,

This error will arise if Backup Exec account does not have proper rights on
    a particular database.

Kindly refer to the following TechNote for further resolution.

    Thank You,

  • It doesnt matter if AOFO is used or not. The patch will cause the backup to fail if the db path has a "\\" even if it's an agent backup without AOFO.

    Thanks,

  • Sweta,

Thanks for the info - but I'm running SBS2003, with WSUS installed. It doesn't seem to have the SQL query tool that are listed in the document..

Also, when I run the Resource Credentials check in BackupExec, they all checkout fine (and I can browse the Resouce within the Backup Selection list window.. It only fails on backup.
  • I think this technote would help you
