EV Retention Plans

Hi

Is it possible to use EV retention plans in EV 14.0 to create retention folders in MS Exchange user mailboxes and then to have different retentions for each folder - or is this still only possible using EVPM for EV14.x environments?

many thanks

  • Hi CadenL,

Kind of. Retention Plans are specifically used to target archived data. Best usage imho together with classification, so at time of deletion, it is checked again if an item can indeed be deleted. You can create a retention folder in THE ARCHIVE.

    From the Help:

Each retention plan comprises a number of settings, such as a retention category, classification policy, and the expiry settings that you want to assign to the items in one or more archives. You can also use retention plans to create retention folders in these archives.

The retention folder feature lets you create a single folder or a hierarchy of folders in your users' archives. Through facilities such as Virtual Vault and Enterprise Vault Search, users can access these retention folders and move items into or out of them. The attributes that you set for each retention folder determine the retention settings that Enterprise Vault applies to the items in the folder. In this release, you can create retention folders in Exchange archives and Internet Mail archives only.

For more information on retention folders, see the Administrator's Guide.

    So, still use EVPM
