Litigation Holds

I dont believe there is a way to do it without using the DA product as the DA product maintains the hold status of the item to ensure that the item is not deleted.
It also has the ability to place marks against the items.
The most important thing is that if you need to export items discovered for litigation the da product reports on the orrigional location of the items so as you can show chain of custody which is required in any form of litigation.
I highly recommend you go to DA...and i'm not a Symantec employee. DA is a very valuable product
