Opening placeholders without FSA agent

Hi,

Is there a way to open a placeholder without an FSA Agent (Enterprise Vault File Placeholder service) running on the file server other than the archive explorer?

    Hi DavidAlvarez, 

    The agent installs a driver and service which are both used to recall the placeholder on a Windows server.  Without them the file system will not know how to read the reparse information and recall the item.  If using folder links on the file server they can be used to connect to Enterprise Vault Search (EVS) in that specific folder to open the item.  

    Otherwise, you would have to go to EVS directly in a browser to open/download the item.
