Rehydrating /recalling the archived file from EV

Hi people,

Can anyone please let me know what is the best way to safely and the suggested way to recalling file from the Archived Vaults ?

and I wonder if it is possible to know beforehand what is the total capacity needed on the target file server before I rehydrate all of the files to avoid disk space issue.

Thanks.

  • Hello John,

If you want to recall all the placeholders in a file server, you can take a look at the Usage report to have an idea how much data has been archived and how much space you need in your file server to recall all the placeholders. Open a browser on your Enterprise Vault server and go to:

    http://localhost/EnterpriseVault/usage.asp

In addition, to recall the placeholders, you can use the FSAUtility using the -b switch on a specific volume:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO37840

    I hope this helps.

  • May I ask why you want to recall all the items?

You may want to consider our FSA Migrator product as a staged alternative to FSAUTILITY offering many cool features.
