Retiring Enterprise Vault Environment

We have moved to another archive solution and are ready to decommision our sole EV server.

User emails were all exported back into Exchange and shortcut/stub emails deleted.

Individual archive mailboxes were disabled in EV.

All EV services and tasks stopped.

Is there anything further we need to do? Everything takes place on the EV server, so there's no connectors or services to remove from the Exchange servers themselves, correct?

We can now just retire the server, its DB and volumes?

Thanks,

  • Pretty you're done then.

I would suggest turning things off (for a couple of days) and seeing what happens.

If you previously had EV OWA extension installed, they can be uninstalled from your CAS servers.

  • agreed with rob, with everything off and no user complaints it should be safe to switch everything off
If you deployed the EV reports to a SQL Server as well you may want to uninstall those, along with the EVAdmin account, removing it from the environment as it has full Send As/Receive as permissions etc

And if you're on Exchange 2010+ you will want to remove the throttling policy that EV set up , also there would be EV System Mailboxes set up for each Exchange Server you targeted
