Setting an SQL alias for EV server

Hi

I want to change the EV SQL server to use a SQL alias name rather than using the physical server name. Once I added the SQL alias into DNS, do I just follow the process to 'move EV SQL databases to a new server'? Clearly I won't need to move anything anywhere, but just wanted to ensure the process is the same for the SQL name changing procedures.
