Backup migration checklist

Hi All,

We are migrating the backup clients of NetBackup from one data center (A) to another datacenter (B). We build new Netbackup server in B data ceneter. Can you please advise what are key points to do after migrating the server

1. Backup migration/setup in new data center checklist ?.

    So, then there is very little to do. Install NBU on servers in new environment and configure devices. Use Host Properties on old master to add SERVER entries on all clients for new master and media servers. Test comms between new servers and clients : test port connectivity as well as forward and reverse name lookup. Create policies for clients and test backups. If all is fine, use Host Properties on new master to select new master in Server tab and click on Make Master. If you have Db clients such as Oracle and/or SQL, update Master name in backup scripts.

    What exactly do you want to migrate along with the clients? Media servers? Backup images? Will all clients migrate or just some of them? Backup media? (Disk / tapes) Will new master at new data center have same or different hostname? Please share as much info as possible about your planned migration.

    Hi Marianne,

     

    It will be new master at new data center have different hostname.

    We migrate the clients data at SAN level and set up new backup.

    Backup Media (Disk at Onsite and tape for offsite)

    We migrate all the clients.

    So what about migration of 'data center A' backup images on disk and tape?

    Do you intend to move and/or import everything?

    Or are you leaving old devices and media on old environment for restores?
