Change Master Server Hostname

Hi,

I have netbackup 7.5.0.6 dedicated master server, plus EMM db server.
Current hostname : masterapp1
When installed master server, I enter db hostname as NB_masterapp1

I would like to change master server hostname at OS level.
hostname : prodapp1 and db : NB_prodapp1

What configuration files I need to change?
What to do before and after the changes?

Please help

Thanks

  • There are NO steps that you can follow.

Only Symantec Consulting Partners have documentation and toolkit to change master server hostname.

    See http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH31385

Symantec has developed comprehensive methodologies to handle a variety of reconfiguration requirements including the following scenarios:

    • Migration from an existing master server to a NetBackup appliance master server
    • Merging of two or more domains
    • Splitting of a domain into two or more domains
    • Clustering of a non-clustered Master Server
    • Renaming of a Master Server or Media Server
    • Moving a Master Server to a new machine involving a host name change
    • Moving a Master Server to a different platform/operating system (Windows to Linux/Unix or Linux/Unix to Windows)
    • Un-clustering a clustered Master Server

A number of Symantec consultants and Consulting Partners worldwide have been trained on these procedures and certified to deliver them in accordance with standards required by the Symantec technical support organization.

  • changing a master server name is a  job of Symatec authorized cunslutant ...

coustomer not suppose to change the master server name... so you need to contact the Symatec autorized cunsultant to change this master server name..

if this master server is new setup .. rebuilding the netbackup from scratch does not cost you much. you can do that if you feel it will not make any impact.. :-)

  • If I wanna do, any details steps please?
Note: Server and IP are not change.
