Check that density of cleaning tape is actually set to cleaning type that matches the density of your tape drives. 

For example, if tape drives are HCART, the density must be HC_CLN, if HCART2 drives, cleaning tape must be HC2_CLN.

Cleaning tapes must also be in NONE pool.

I saw there are 1 media with barcode CLNU11L1 which I suspect is the cleaning tape. The density is DLT while the tape drive is HCART3 and it is in the Netbackup volume pool.

How I can change the density and the volume pool for the cleaning tape?

# vmchange -m -p 0 # vmchange -m -new_mt hcart3_clean # vmchange -m -clean 50

Just one change to commands supplied by Yasuhisa:

Make density HC3_CLN

vmchange -m CLNU11L1 -p 0
vmchange -m CLNU11L1 -new_mt hc3_cln
vmchange -m CLNU11L1 -clean 50

Thank you for your comment, Marianne. Some word in my post is treaded as HTML tag. But, hc3_cln does not work. We have to use hcart3_clean.

# vmchange -m CLNU01 -new_mt hc3_cln
invalid media type (9)

And, CLNU11L1 is barcide ID, not media ID. Media ID may be CLNU11 or NU11L1.

Bluedemon, here is correct procedures. vmchange command is located in volmgr directory, as Marianne wrote.

# vmchange -m media_id -p 0
# vmchange -m media_id -new_mt hcart3_clean
# vmchange -m media_id -clean 50

I have already change the media type according to your suggestion. Here is the information when I run vmquery

When I try to clean it again, the same error still popup. Anything else I need to check?

Have a look at your vmquery output again - the tape is not in the robot.

What does it mean that the tape is not in the robot? How we can move the tape to the robot?

NetBackup does not know that the tape is in the robot:

robot type:            NONE - Not Robotic (0)

If it is definitely in the robot, run Inventory to update NBU config.

Ok..now I start to confuse...I had run the robot inventory and I do not found the cleaning tape in the list.

Any idea where could be wrong?
