unable to allocate new media for backup, storage unit has none available (96)

Will be waiting for help on this desperately.

  • run nbstl <slp_nam> -all_versions -L

In the outputs verify the storage units and volume pool mentioned for the duplication operation in each of the versions

  • Doublecheck that you have enough media in destination volume pool or in Scratch pool. Are there really some free media or partally full (Active) media. If you have Active Media only, check that retention in duplication command does not differ.

Also check if Volume Expiration date for tapes is not set and has not passed.

Verify that Netbackup Robot Inventory is up to date

Some changes in NetBackup perfromed before the error started to appear? Or HW problems which could have frozen the media?

    regards

    Michal

There have been issue in the past where your scratch pool can get messed up - run :

      vmpool -list_scratch

This will list your scratch pool - verify it is what you expected.

You should check the HCART type to make sure you are requesting the correct tape/drive types.

  • Is the source a disk volume @aaaae and destination LCM_ktealbak102-hcart-robot-tld-1?

Check the media server status and make sure it is disk and tape.

You have received excellent advice here.
Did you manage to find the reason for status 96?

Another cmd report that you can run on a regular basis is available_media in ...\netbackup\bin\goodies.
If you have lots of media in the environment, redirect output to a .txt file in another folder.

Please let us know if you still need assistance.

      Hello Everyone,

Sorry for the delay in response. I was told that the issue might be with SLP versioning. What will I have to check to confirm this.
