Importing windows master server catalog to linux master server

I have a windows master server in one location. In another location i have a linux master server.

Can i import the windows server catalog backup on the linux master server ?

If so how do i do it without disturbing the liniux master server catalog.?

There is no such thing as catalog 'import'.
    Catalog can only be recovered/restored.

Catalog recovery can only be done between masters with same OS family:
Windows to Windows or Linux to/from Unix.

    Herewith official Veritas doc:

DOCUMENTATION: How to migrate the NetBackup catalog information from one platform to another (UNIX to Windows or vice versa), rename a Master Server, cluster an existing Master Server, or merge multiple NetBackup domains.
    http://www.veritas.com/docs/000026956

The 'Recovery Without Import' method might be an option.
Please read the documentation and test this at your own risk:

  • Hi edwindom

What problem are you trying to solve by importing the Windows server catalog into the Linux master server ?

Are you trying to merge the two Netbackup domain into one ?

I am actually trying to check if this linux master server can act as a DR for this windows master server.

        Hello,

I guess such an import is probably possible. However this will be the type of backup for which you wont have supported procedure for restore.

Catalog .DR file used for recovery cannot work with Catalog Backups saved under another NBU domain.

When you want to have this backup saved in a "remote site", then export or replicate this backup or its media to a "remote site", still under management of original Master Server. No need to complicate this with a remote Master.

        regards
