Master server migration

Hi All We need to set up a new master server with the same catalogue in another datacenter, as we are doing a service separation of some services. the older master server will still exist as it is ...

    xx.corp.com and xx are not the same.
    Catalog recovery will fail at relational db restore. You may as well prepare new master server with new name.

    You have 3 choices:
    1) Get a catman consultant to perform catalog migration.
    2) Import all tapes that you want to take to new DC.
    3) Use Recovery Without Import method (Google the TN) to recover image catalog.
    Tapes will be unassigned and you will need to move all tapes with valid images to non-backup pool to prevent overwrite.
    You can run NBCC and submit to Support to generate script that will assign media.

    Recovery Without Import is meant for situations like these and master names can be different. 

    Importing tapes is a lengthy procedure that is done in 2 steps - howto procedure in this TN:  http://www.veritas.com/docs/000029918

Thanks Marianne

Does the recovery with import work if the master server names are different, I am assuming it does because the whitepaper does not mention anything about master server name

note the facility in the new DC is never going to be used for backup, it is purely a facility to restore files from legacy tapes, the number of tapes in the catalogue is 14000+. 

all of these tapes are already offsite (ie archived). The next question is how do we import the tapes from source to target, can you point me to any relevant doumentation
