0001L5 (barcode DR0001L5)

Please Help .

  • You need to consider this when designing a system. As you see, the default media id is last 6 characters, so for two barcodes that are different, you end up with the same media id - which fails, because it is always in use. Better would be to have used the 1st 6 characters as the media id, that was they stay unique.

  • Problem is that you already have tapes that have been written to with ####L5 media id's in the system.

As long as they are Assigned, you cannot change the media id in NBU.
When all images have expired, you will have to delete media id ending in L5, run Inventory to add them with 1st 6 characters, and then 'label' them to overwrite the internal label with the same 1st 6 characters.

As per Martin's excellent post - best to add this rule before any tapes are written to.
