NBU7 "Server Software Installation" don't start!

Hi,
I downloaded NBU7 package (Zip file) and attempted a brand new installation on a Win2k8 R2 x64 virtual machine.
It looks like something is missing (alternatively, I'm missing something!)

Browser.exe succesfully launch. Clicking on the "Installation" in the left pane, lead me to the "Installation" page offering:
OpsCenter, Server Software Installation... and other.

The issue is that when I click the "Server Software Installation", nothing happen.
the tooltips under the mouse when it flow over that link is:
file:///C:/Users/Administrateur/Desktop/NB_7.0_Win_FA/$CPU$/setup.exe
!!!!!!

I worry about the $CPU$ !! because the only setup.exe file are:
File Listing using mask (setup.exe)
Path: F:\isofiles\Symantec NBU\NB_7.0_Win_FA\

  • Not sure is related to this problem or not, but I have already faced similar issues with Windows 2008 R2.

Can you run the browser.exe with administrative rights (by right clicking and select Run as administrator).

This might be because Windows 2008 by default blocks any application using administrative rights.

    Hope this helps...

  • Hello Andy,

You are rights! the issue is that my C:\ disk don't have enought free space and aborted the zip extraction silently letting me thinking the extraction were completed.

If the zip package were openable using Winrar, I would probably not face this issue! (winrar reported that something is wrong with the package... and the only way for me was to open it using "windows compressed folder" which require many space on system disk.

Thanks (I will mark you answer as solution)

  • Hello,

Thanks for you suggestion... I had tested this before posting.

This was not the solution for me.
