NetBackup 7.0 with Oracle 11g r1 on HP-UX issue

Now, I on the way to configure backup Oracle on HP-UX server.

I had NetBackup 7.0 master server on Windows 2003 server R2 (Service pack 2). --> cisrpt is master server

Oracle 11g R1 (11.1.6) run on cluster with HP Service Guard. (HP-UX v11.3)
node1: cisdb
node2: cisapp
virtual-name: pwacisdb

I install netbackup client on both node on cluster and run oracle_link command on both node:

oracle@cisdb:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/lib> ls -l libobk.*
lrwxr-xr-x   1 oracle     oinstall        34 May  9 13:56 libobk.so -> /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/libobk.so

oracle@cisapp:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/lib> ls -l libobk.*
lrwxr-xr-x   1 oracle     oinstall        34 May  9 14:23 libobk.so -> /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/libobk.so

I had configure netbackup to backup Oracle but had error occured.

I don't sure about bprd_get_featureId: error

Please sugguest me to finished this issue.

  • Ah... I know my issue...

    For oracle backup service, netbackup had check 3 things for online backup.
    1. Policy --> use virtual name.
    2. bp.conf --> use virtual name (or use virtual name to install)
    3. send parameter on rman backup script.

    and then backup, I use this solution and it can backup successful.

    Thanks all.

  • This looks like the client is unable to connect to bprd on the master server.
    Are you using DNS or hosts entries for name/IP address lookup?
    Can the master server resolve the incoming backup request from the virtual IP to the correct virtual hostname?

    Check bprd log file on the master server if backup request is received from virtual IP and if correct name can be resolved in subsequent lines.

  • - Is your master server a media server as well? If not, do you have media server defined in bp.conf fine and have ports open from client to media server as well.
    - check if the bprd port 13720/tcp is open for bi-directional communication.
    - NetBackup client agent and Oracle agent version.. are these same or different? Make sure you have installed oracle agent for correct OS and Hardware type.
