Solaris 10 takes too long to shutdown - vmd daemon failed to stop

Hello,

I realized that recently two  solaris 10 servers are taking too long to shutdown. These servers have the NetBackup client installed, version 7.5.0.5. I didn't think that a NetBackup process was causing this behaivour untill I found that the last message the OS sends just before go down is one related to vmd  daemon.

vmd[935]: [ID 715111 daemon.error] volume daemon terminating because it received a signal (15)
vmd[935]: [ID 164182 daemon.error] terminating - daemon terminated (7)

Have you ever seen something like this?

  • Volume Manager Daemon (vmd) is not installed on NetBackup Client, only Media Servers.  Perhaps an uninstall and reinstall of NetBackup on the client is needed.  Or do these Clients act as Media Servers too?

  • These servers act only as clients :(

I'll uninstall the media server software and install the client.

    Thanks!
