Storage Lifecycle

Hi Guys,

I am looking for a solution for tape duplication.

The scenario is that, I have 2 tape libraries with 1 of them is used for backing up data (Tape Library A) using Netbackup 6.5, while the other one is idle (Tape Library B). I am looking for a solution where all the data inside Tape Library A is duplicated to Tape Library B. I was told that Storage Lifecycle in Netbackup is able to do this. Can anyone confirm this?

And if SLP is able to do this, where can I get the notes or documentation?

Thanks in advanced.

Best Regards,

Ronny

  • Thanks marianne for the feedback. Another question I would like to ask is does Netbackup has a feature where it validates the condition of the tapes? In other words, it validates whether the tapes is corrupted or is in good condition.

    Thanks.

  • You can use Catalog -> Verify in the GUI. It's a manual process.

Most NBU admins agree that the best way to test tapes is to schedule regular restore/DR tests.

  • Verify  mounts the tape, reads the image and compares with catalog info. Detailed info in Admin Guide I (see link in my 1st reply).

Ronny, favour, please ... One question per discussion if you don't mind?
If you post multiple questions/issues in the same thread, how will you decide which answer to mark as Solution?
