Bad Media

My backups have suddenly quit working. They have worked since June with no issues.When trying to runa job I get this error: Media is unrecognized.

The media in drive 'COMPAQ 1' is written in an unrecognized format. Erase the media to make it usable. I tried to erase it and I am now receiving errors that the media is bad: Error description : The Storage device reported an CRC error on a request to read/write data to/from media. If this problem persists, please contact your hardware vendor for more information.
This media worked fine until recently. i also can not run a cleaning job as this fails also.

Any ideas?

    Sounds like a hardware error

    check/replace terminators, cables, SCSI controller.

    If you have some manufacturer diagnostics, try a couple of runs against the drive
