cannot stop services

I have tried to stop the services using bestop and beutility as well as from the service window. The service window shows 2 services in a stopping status. It has been that way for a day. I keep on getting an error message like "the service cannot be controlled in its present state or "the service cannot accept control messages at this time".

    You can try using the kill.exe utility (in NT resource kit). If you have the kill.exe file type in:
    kill pidnumber
    eg kill 1038

    This should kill the services, however if they are killed but are reporting as "stopping" in the services manager then you might have to reboot the server.
