The catalog backup of the NBU6.5.4 was done on wed afternoon, so we still have daily backup of wed and thursday ran by the existing NBU6.5.4 before we did the cutover to new master on friday. I did keep the frozen and kept the tapes for wed & thurs to be imported later after migration. However the mistake was that the tapes were left in robot and NBU 7.1 sees them has having 0 images. These tape were accidentally unfrozen and possibly (idont know) overwritten. I have tried the 2phase import but at the second phase, "no images were found for import"- any miracle here at all to get this images back? Please advise. Thanks. socket write failed while trying to connect to solaris media server from NBU7.1winR2 master Hi All, We changed our Master server(win2003 NBU6.5.4) to win2008R2 -NBU7.1.0.2 master server. Names,IP and other parameters of the old master were used for the new master and everything looked fine. All 3 media servers stillon NBU6.5.4that were not in the DMZ were able to connect with the new master. However my solaris 8 media server 6.5.4 is still showing as offline. Attempt to connect to it from master give error "socket write failed, status 24" I have configure the firewall in the host property of the new Master just as it was configure on the old master server. I can ping the solaris media server from the master server both using IP or the name, so the master can resolve the media server,s name. Is there anything really that i need to do on windows2008R2? The windows firewall has been disabled. And the Private&public network were changed to Home network in the network connection settings. what about Vnetd? do i need to configure any file on the netbackup side? Please help. Thanks. VSS backup issue Hi all, I am just wondering if any of you have seen this issue before. I have 4 node Microsoft clusters(window 2008 ent). I use Flashbackup-windows policy type to backup file resources on this cluster that have LUN presentations on HP EVA using off-host backup. As such HPVSS component was installed on all the nodes to make this off-host backup work. The snapshot backup is working fine for this policy type. However there are other resources on this cluster that uses MS-windows-NT (network) policy type to backup their own resources. I suppose by default the open file backup for those reaource should use microsoft VSS and not creating snapshot on the EVA. But i found out that even the MS-windows-NT policy is creating snapshot on the EVA for LUN presented to those resources that are being backed up by MS-windows-NT policy. Doesthis mean that because HPVSS is installed on those nodes, it has over taken or wrapped up the microsoft VSS and It is choosen as the default VSS provider for all policies . and where the drives being backed up reside on array, a snapshot of that volume is created on the array? The backup of the nodes( local drives C and shadow copy component)them self seem to use microsoft VSS provider as the backup selection includes no LUNs that resides on EVA.- right? Any idea? Please. Thanks. Ade how to migrate unix media server to windows. We are planning to migrate our two unix media servers to windows. one is linux and other is solaris. The aim is to migrate these servers and then keep them aside for possible restore operation if required. I will like to know if there is any guide ot technote out there on steps to go about this. Do I need toconvert the licence for these media servers to windows licence? Thank you guys for your help. Change netbackup install path I am upgrading my master server to NBU7.1 following the inline process of upgrading from 6.5.4 to NBU 7.1. And I just want to know if I could also change the install path afer the upgrade is completed. my present install path is c:\program files\veritas\netbackup.. This was kept the same inline with guides for the upgrade process but i will like to keep this separated from the OS by possibly move it to another partition. Is there any one with this experience? or is there any relevant tech note for this ? Please share it with me. Thank you. SolvedRe: Netbackup vault duplications issue it is NBU6.5.4 I mean is there any KB or white paper that clearly state how the attributes(logical) & location (physical) are combined in selection of images to backup? Which one takes precedence over the other? Thanks. Netbackup vault duplications issue Hi All, Am just wondering if any one could help on this.I need to know how vault duolication selection attribute works in terms of selecting images to duplicate. I have a vault profile which seems to be disregarding the basic disk attributes defined. Though I have created storage units that are sharing the same disk (e.g D:\full, D:\weekly). So my question is that if i define only D:\full in the basic disk attributes, does vault disregards and search for images including the ones on D:\weekly as well because they are on the same disk? This seems to be what is happening on one of my vault profile. Please let me no if you've experienced this. thanks. Yamoo Re: Netbackup 6.5.4 upgrade to version 7.x Ok. my plan now is to get another hardware ready for this.the idea is for us to have an easy rollback plan. so the existing windows2003 master server will be shutdown and catalog will be restored on the 1st new hardware(windows2008, NBU6.5.4) and upgrade to NBU7.1.Then the catalog will be backup on this new hardware ,then restored to the 2nd newhardware(windows2008 R2, NBU7.1) Will this plan be ok? And one more thing, we will be upgrading our media servers as well to 7.1. Can you share with me the steps to decommission these media server and get the media backedup by those media servers migrated(make restorable by the new servers) to the new media servers as we will be changing the names of the media servers. thanks guys. thanks.
