Backup Exec 2010 vs VCB..needed?

Am in the process of creating new Vmware hosts.  During our research we were looking at Backup Exec 12.5 in conjunction with VCB (Vmware Consolidated Backup).  We ended up purchasing Backup Exec 20...

    As far as I know, BE 2010 has done away with using VCB, and uses its own internal method of backing up VMs.
