Cannot obtain settings for the Agent For Windows publishing from the registry
Hello. Our Backup Exec version 16 is running on a Windows Server 2016. We are unable to upgrade it because we run a software on one server that can only be supported on Windows Server 2003. The Windows 2003 server was suddenly not backing up properly. Restart did not work and I reinstalled the agent. Now when I try to install it, it does not show up in my backup exec because you need to enable publishing in the Agent on the 2003 server. However, when I try to do that by going to the publishing tab, I get an error message "Cannot obtain settings for the Agent For Windows publishing from the registry". It then goes to the tab but the checkmark is greyed out. I also noticed the Backup Exec Agent for Windows service is stopped. It automatically closes if you try to start it saying it closes it if the service is not in use. I have tried both installing the agent manually and pushing from the backup exec server. It installs fine but you cannot enable the publishing. I also tried deleting every backup exec file, folder, and registry key I could find to fully reset it before reinstalling. Other servers work fine. How can i fix this? Please let me know. Thank you.1.2KViews0likes0CommentsNDMP backups failing
I have an ancient tape backup sysytem that I use as a redudndant data backup for my Netapp FAS2020 filer. It has worked flawlessly for 7 or 8 years, until a controller on the Netapp crashed last week. It was replaced and is running normally, and supposedly the same config was applied as prior to the crash. But ever since then my backups have been failing with Error Code E00846B: (Server: "DOCULEX") (Job: "NDMP-Policy 0001-Daily Backup") NDMP-Policy 0001-Daily Backup -- The job failed with the following error: The resource could not be backed up because an error occurred while connecting to the Backup Exec for Windows Servers Remote Agent. Make sure that the correct version of the Remote Agent is installed and running on the target computer. If the server or resource no longer exists, remove it from the selection list. Edit the selection list properties, click the View Selection Details tab, and then remove the resource. I have deleted and recreated the items in the selection list, tried two different logons to the device, rebvooted teh media server, ascertained that the media server can ping the Netapp. I am at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.1.1KViews0likes2CommentsError code 48

I have a standalone Windows server with an HP MSA SAN attached via iSCSI, the environment includes a TLD. Master/Media Server is Netbackup 6.0 MP4: Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise (32bit) I recently attached the SAN to the Netbackup server in order to use it as a restoration/storage repository. In Windows Disk Manager I have defined 3 paritions, 18TB each, and they are accessible in Explorer. I have a bunch of tapes that I'd like to restore onto the SAN, and I assumed that I could simply choose the files I want, and restore them to a drive located on the SAN, E:\. When attempting restoration, the tape loads and begins reading, then after about 2mins there's an error. bpbrm(pid=4404) listen for client protocol error - couldn't accept from data socket. Cannot connect on socket(25) Even though the SAN is attached to the Master server via iSCSI, do I need to install a client for this to work? I thought a client was only required if using Fibre Channel connecting to something like a VMware environment.Solved2.2KViews0likes10CommentsNetBackup Media Import - Operator Action Required
Hi... firstly, I'm running NetBackup v6.0 MP4, which is pretty old. I built my server specifically to duplicate a load of legacy backups onto newer LTO6 tapes, and that process worked perfectly well. That piece of work was completed 5 years ago. Using the exactly same server and the duplicate tapes, I'm now attempting to perform restores. However this hasn't started as easily as I thought it would. I can see the required tapes listed in the Catalog, however the problem starts when I select the associated images to Import. I right click an image, select Import, I enter the tape ID, the tape loads into a drive via the robot, I see a message on the robot display saying Reading... then after a couple of seconds it stops just sits there saying Ready. The acitivty log shows the process starting, access is granted to the tape resource, then access is granted to the LTO drive and the tape loads. I have seen the following error: 1620 error requesting media: TpErrno=Robot operation failed. A pending request has been generated for this resource request. Operator action may be required. Pending Action: Tape is unmountable Media ID: DA0026 Barcode: DA0026 Access Mode: Read Volume Group: 000_00000_TLD I have successfully completed all tests against the robot, that's definitely working properly. This has been driving me mad for a week, hopefully someone can help. Thanks, SteveSolved2.5KViews0likes7CommentsSet the media retention period
